It Started With a Pepper Nursery
In January 2018, Adebayo Adeoti was at his farmhouse — about a mile's walk from Apapa Odan town, down a narrow footpath — planting pepper seeds one at a time into a seed tray.
An 11-year-old boy from the community stopped by, as he often did. He had never seen a seed tray before. In his world, you broadcast pepper seed on the ground and transplant whatever survives. He watched, fascinated, as each seed went into its own cell.
That moment changed everything. These children didn't lack intelligence or work ethic — they lacked access to quality agricultural knowledge. The seed tray became the first lesson, the farmhouse became a classroom, and one boy's curiosity became a mission: to give rural young people the agricultural education they deserve.
That mission became BAGSfarm in 2018. It grew into school gardens, 4-H clubs, farmer trainings, and seed grants for women. In 2024, the community honored Adebayo with the chieftaincy title of Mayegun — “one who makes the world straight” — in recognition of this work. Today, the BANI Youth Empowerment Foundation carries that same spirit to rural communities across Nigeria.

We envision a future where young people in rural areas don't have to leave home to find opportunity. By teaching them how to grow food, lead their peers, and solve local problems, we are raising a generation that can confidently feed and lead their own communities.

We work side by side with schools and families to teach kids how to grow food, care for their land, and lead with confidence. Every lesson is hands-on, because that is how real change sticks.

Kids get their hands busy in our school gardens. They plant, water, and pick their own crops, turning lessons into something they can see and touch.
Growing Young Leaders
Through our 4-H clubs, students learn how to work as a team, speak up, and take charge. These are skills that follow them far beyond the farm.

We reach beyond the classroom, working directly with families to build opportunities, share resources, and support lasting change for everyone involved.
